COURSE INFO

The course is a interesting, challenging but achievable course combining trails in both the wider multi-purpose trails allowing plenty of room to pass and the more technical mountain bike trails comprising of single track, technical sections with some demanding climbs and the rewards of some great downhill sections and flow tracks.  Some great vistas from the top of the hills, not that you will have time to enjoy the views. The Mt Joyce Escape marathon course will now be using the new UCI rules for Marathons allowing for a mult-lap course.   We can now start and finish the Marathon at the same location without you having to worry about getting back to your car at the finish.  The start finish will be at the eastern trailhead at  Wyaralong Dam with the riders village over-looking great water views of the dam.  The course takes utilizes the new trails in the mountain bike park.

The Marathon is now slightly longer with the full Marathon (86km) completing three laps of 29k.  The course comprises of 2/3 multi-purpose, farm tracks &  fire roads with 1/3 single track that you all love. It's  nearly all dirt in this Marathon apart from the starting and finishing straights.  You will have approximately 5km of fire road before you reach the single tracks giving time for the field to sort themselves out.  There is one major climb from 75mtrs up to 228mtrs where you get great views from the top overlooking the dam.  The half Marathon is now 43km and ride 1 and half laps of  the same course as the full Marathon, but only have to do the hillclimb once, with the Full Marathon climbing it 3 times.

Start through farm  tracks on the bottom of the dam and up through farm trails and climb up singles and down  into Secret Valley with 6km single and then climb to the top of the park where you will get great views overlooking the dam and ride across the ridgeline with a great descent down the access road to the multi-use trails back home, ready to start over again for your next lap.
